Two volume set in slipcase, the first volume is a book with dustjacket, the second is a folding facsimile of a long handscroll, protected by a hardcover. Condition: The book is in very good condition, binding sound, no inscriptions. The dustjacket is in very good condition with very light sunning to spine. 104pp. 28 colour plates. The folding facsimile is in fine condition with just a very faint hint of shelfwear to covers. The slipcase has light shelfwear and a hint of sunning to spine. This book is about a Chinese painting (dated to 1321) by Xie Chufang, a little known artist of the Yuan dynasty, who chose to depict the struggles of the natural world in intimate detail. The painting, a long handscroll in colours on silk from the collection of the late Philip Robinson is reproduced as a separate folding facsimile, together with the title and a series of poems in fine calligraphy added to it b Chinese connoisseurs.
